RIBOSOME

Having left the Transport Depot with its amino acid [Lysine], the tRNA approaches the Acceptor site [A] and gets ready to dock

Docked!

Once docked the Anti Codon [UUU] checks the codon on the mRNA [AAA]. Once it has been certified, the Sat Nav detaches and heads back to the depot for a further ‘amino acid’ load

The amino acid chain [M & S] is released by the tRNA carrier and it is joined to the amino acid, Lysine [L] with a peptide bond (glue). The tRNA then heads back to the Depot for a fresh cargo

The tRNA moves over to the ‘P’ site and the next codon is ready to be translated

The ribosome then moves along the mRNA

Peptide Bond

The chain of amino acids is now 3 [M-S-L]
