RIBOSOME

tRNA

The tRNA has left the Transport Depot with it cargo of amino acid (SERINE) and approaches the Acceptor site on the ribosome

Safely docked!

Once docked the Anti Codon [AGG] checks the codon on the mRNA [UCC]. Once it has been certified, the Sat Nav detaches and heads back to the depot for a further ‘amino acid’ load

RIBOSOME

mRNA

The amino acid Methionine is released by the tRNA carrier and it is joined to the amino acid, Serine with a peptide bond (glue). The tRNA then heads back to the Depot for a fresh cargo

Peptide Bond

The first two amino acids in our protein chain are now in place

The tRNA moves over to the ‘P’ site and the next codon is ready to be translated

The ribosome then moves along the mRNA
