“My doctrine shall drop ... as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass”
Deuteronomy 32:2
Welcome to the Hero Home Recipes cookbook.

There are many parallels between it and DNA. Here are six.
The book has recipes for making scones etc. The DNA has recipes for making proteins
The book never leaves the Reference Library. The DNA never leaves the nucleus
Because the book never leaves the Reference Library the recipe must be copied and carried out of the library. Likewise with the DNA; because it never leaves the nucleus, the protein ‘recipe’ must be copied and taken out of the nucleus
Nucleus
DNA
Cytoplasm
The cake recipe will be read carefully and the cake will be ‘assembled’ in the kitchen by a chef. The protein recipe will be read carefully by a Ribosome and will be assembled in the CYTOPLASM
The cake is made from ingredients such as flour, eggs, butter etc. The protein is made from ingredients. These are amino acids. There are 20 different amino acids
Want to
Need to
Obviously the chef uses his fingers to open the book. The information for our protein is locked tightly inside the twisted DNA, ladder. The DNA must therefore be partially unwound to expose the protein ‘recipe’
Before the recipe can be copied the book must be OPENED at the correct page. Before the protein recipe can be copied the DNA also must be OPENED at the correct place.
