Jesus said - “O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:
Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into His glory?”
There are estimated to be in excess of 350 Bible prophecies relating to the Person of Jesus Christ. As the title of this article says, we would like to give 24 of these prophecies that deal specifically with the last 24 hours of His life. The study will highlight three main points.
the uniqueness of the Bible
the uniqueness of the One these prophecies speak of
the importance of His death
“Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me” - Psalm 41:9
It is interesting to note that the price of thirty pieces of silver was not decided by the betrayer Judas, but by the enemies of Christ. They were unaware that the price which they had determined was fulfilling the prophecy made by Zechariah centuries earlier. The Old Testament would inform us that this price was paid for a servant who had been attacked and gored by an ox - "If the ox gores a male or female servant, he shall give to their master thirty shekels of silver, and the ox shall be stoned” - Exodus 21:32. Not surprisingly, Jesus, the Servant of Jehovah, would Himself be pierced by His attackers!
“And I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver.” - Zechariah 11:12
